A Senior Unified Communications engineer with 15 years of extensive hands-on experience in network engineering, unified communications, administration, troubleshooting, and repair. He started his career in network engineering working with routers and switches, installing and supporting Cisco local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). He currently specializes in working with clients to architect and design robust Unified Communications and Collaboration solutions. He is part of the core NetCraftsmen senior engineering and project leadership team and in that role he is responsible for managing all aspects of a solution from design to operations. He is also a subject matter expert on multiple E-911 solutions and SIP trunking.
With more than 12 years of experience in the web hosting industry, Andy has worked within a variety of data centers throughout the tri-state area. Andy has managed networks ranging from single router deployments to large scale implementations with ISP’s and corporate facilities. He holds certifications in Cisco, Juniper, and Brocade.
Bryan brings over 10 Years’ experience selling IT enterprise software and security solutions to NetCraftsmen, where his role will be to develop and expand the State, Local and Education Market Nationally. Prior to NetCraftsmen, Bryan focused his sales and business development efforts in the Commercial (fortune 500 corporations), and Government marketplace. He brings experience across a wide spectrum of areas including; identity management solutions, video interoperability solutions, data analytics and network Infrastructure solutions.
Possessing a mix of experiences over the past 20 years ranging from desktop and server support, web CGI programming, project management, and routing and switching, Carl came to NetCraftsmen after a lengthy term at Prometric, where he was the Sr. Network Engineer for 11 years. He has developed high availability networks using DMVPN, BGP over MPLS, multi-homed multi-tier load-balanced Internet application hosting architectures, been a key player in defining operational technical procedures, enterprise IP addressing schemes, served as the key technical lead on many remote international network deployments, and primary engineering contact for company clients and vendors.
A large part of Carmen’s career has been devoted to enterprise-level systems engineering and operational support for VMware, HP Server Systems, Cisco UCS, NetApp, Citrix, and Microsoft Enterprise products. He is also a VMware Certified Professional 5, specializes in all aspects of large-scale virtual Infrastructures, and is an active member of the local VMUG association. Carmen is also proficient in Microsoft AD, Microsoft CS, Data Center Optimization, Scripting/Automation and C++/Java programming.
A senior network consultant with more than fifteen years of industry experience, Carole is one of our most highly experienced network professionals. Her current focus is on the data center and on network infrastructure.
A highly experienced network engineer with strong network design, implementation, and troubleshooting skills, Charlie has been CCNA and CCSI (#22335) certified since 2001. Using his experience with switching, routing, and firewall configuration, he supports and maintains large networks ensuring a reliable and efficient environment for the end users and server administrators.
Dante has more than 15 years’ experience in the Information technology field with demonstrated mastery and skills in managing IT programs, service delivery, and developing project management policies and procedures. Dante has progressive experience from hands on engineering roles and project delivery through strategic planning. He is currently directing and building the program management rigor in NetCraftsmen.
Responsible for technical leadership and solutions development, David engages directly with major customers. Prior to NetCraftsmen, he was a Senior Consultant with Chesapeake Computer Consultants, Inc. and Mentor Technologies. His background spans a wide range of technical disciplines including performance management, networking, server administration, storage, virtualization, and unified communications. An expert in the design and operation of networking systems that support complex requirements, David loves solving technical challenges. He has been published in several books and magazine articles, and his current certifications include CCIE #2292 and CCDE #20120013.
Denise has worked with information systems since the mid-1990s, focusing on network design since 2004. During that time she has designed for a wide range of networks, private and public, of all sizes, across most industries. Her expertise spans most technologies. Denise has authored numerous Cisco Press books and frequently shares her knowledge in webinars and seminars.
Diane has over 20 years experience in the networking industry. Her most recent projects have included data center design and implementation and large scale wireless deployments. She also has experience in WAN technologies and voice.
An accomplished Senior Network Engineer, Fausat has over 15 years experience designing; implementing and supporting large scale multi-protocol network, security, and Internet Web traffic technologies. She has strong skills in network risk and vulnerability assessments, traffic load balance technologies and network security policies. She also has strong understanding of routing and switching protocols. Her areas of focus include network and telecommunications design, support, security assessments and management of large distributed information systems networks. She currently holds the highly recognized Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certificate and Information Assurance certificate. Her experience encompasses the entire spectrum of inter-networking protocols and technologies.
Greg brings over twenty years of experience operating service provider and enterprise networks to NetCraftsmen, where his role is to mature and expand the managed services offerings. Prior to NetCraftsmen Greg spent over 10 years at the State of Maryland where he was the Deputy Secretary and COO for the Department of Information Technology, as well as the Deputy State CIO. Before joining the State Greg had over 10 years experience in the network service provider field at companies such as Orbitz and Allegiance Telecom, successfully designing and implementing national ISP networks, hosting platforms, and e-commerce infrastructure.
Mr. Urban’s education includes a M.S. in Computer Science from UMBC, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Harold has experience in routing and switching, data center and network security. He is currently pursuing his CCNP.
Focused on driving new business, Jim has more than 16 years experience, with a strong technical and sales background founded on his time spent as an engineer, a sales engineer, and account executive. He brings experience across a number of technology areas including Unified Communications and networking. Jim also brings extensive experience in competitive technologies.
Jim is a Network Engineer, Telecom Administrator, and Field Technician with 17+ years of experience, who provides customers with Network and Telecom support and troubleshooting expertise. He is analytical and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. With a strong background in Data Center, PBX, CO and large Federal PBX agency environments, Jim has excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as time management and problem resolution skills.
James is an accomplished sales professional with over 16 years of experience in acquiring and managing profitable accounts in the Information Technology industry offering Cloud, IP Telephony, Cyber Security, and Managed Services solutions. His focus will be to increase sales revenue within the Maryland Select sales sector, and strengthen existing NetCraftsmen relationships.
Jed is responsible for identifying game breaking talent and bringing them into the NetCraftsmen family. He counts himself fortunate to have been recruiting network engineers since the ARPANET days. Prior to NetCraftsmen, Jed has led recruiting organizations for several network and network security centric companies as well as IT search firms, most recently Carroll Technology. He lives in Sykesville, MD with his wife and children.
Jessica Van Dyke has more than two decades of experience in sales and sales operation support, the last twelve years with NetCraftsmen. Jessica began with NetCraftsmen as an Account Manager and has transitioned into Sales Operations and Support. Working with our vendor partners and NetCraftsmen Sales and Business Development teams, Jessica provides pre and post sales support for hardware and maintenance projects.
Joe brings an extensive multi-disciplined background to the NetCraftsmen Unified Communications and Collaboration team. With almost a decade of experience in large-scale deployments, systems integration, and automation, Joe has primarily specialized in Microsoft identity and core infrastructure technologies. However, he also possesses a key understanding of Cisco UC technologies and virtualization.
Joel has over 18 years of experience working in technology holding numerous roles in sales and sales management. Having worked in the Software, Networking, VoIP and Cloud Services industries, Joel brings a strong background of IP Telephony and Networking experience to the team. Joel’s NetCraftsmen role will be to grow the commercial market in Virginia as NetCraftsmen looks to expand its brand and stellar reputation as Cisco’s premier engineering partner in the Mid-Atlantic region.
John Cavanaugh, CCIE 1066, CCDE 20070002, CCAr, leads an Architecture and Design practice focused on infrastructure security. Previously he had several positions including Executive Director/Chief Architect for Global Network Services at JPMorgan Chase. In that capacity he led a team managing Vendor relationships, Network Architecture and Services. Prior to his role at JPMorgan Chase, John was a Distinguished Engineer at Cisco.
Johnathan has years of experience in IT consulting in a broad range of disciplines including desktop support, field technician, network monitoring, backup implementation, and leading new client acquisition projects all over the country. He enjoys learning about new and up-and-coming technologies and is currently learning about datacenter technologies.
A member of the technical team, Justin is a computer technician with a diverse experience set, including IT configuration, desktop support, marketing, and establishing customer relationships. He is proficient in a wide range of technologies, and has always enjoyed adapting and being a problem solver.
A senior network and security engineer with extensive routing and switching expertise that covers all major protocols, Keith has been the lead engineer at several US Federal and UK sites. He has also been responsible for or played a major role in the design, implementation and support of multiple projects ranging from virtualized Nexus data centers to the creation of VPN and multi-tiered firewall solutions. Keith is currently pursuing a CCIE certification.
An experienced administrative assistant with prior positions in healthcare and telecommunications offices, Kimmy is detail oriented and proactive in providing timely, efficient and accurate administrative support. She has strong organizational skills, has ability to maintain confidentiality and has working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
In his position as Vice President of Operations, Larry is responsible for planning and overseeing delivery of the NetCraftsmen’s offerings to our clients. He has been in the IT industry for over 25 years and most recently led Operations for CGI’s State & Local Solutions program. Having worked in both small and large corporate environments, Larry’s background spans the solution lifecycle from business strategy and offering development through program and resource management, and ultimately both project and service delivery. He has particular experience with managed and cloud services, repeatedly transitioning organizations to these higher value engagement models. Larry is an inventor on over a dozen patents and graduated with honors from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD,
Lee Berdick has been developing, deploying and supporting enterprise level networks and security solutions for over 10+ years. Mainly concentrated in supporting Federal Government customers his experience and expertise include network access control, creating guest access services, deploying edge firewall solutions, and migrating unsecure legacy networks to modern secure solutions.
Experienced network engineer with significant network optimization and troubleshooting expertise, she holds CCNP certification, and is actively pursuing the CCIE certification.
Marty has decades of experience in LAN and WAN network design, operation, optimization, and troubleshooting. He works with customers to improve manageability with attention to address plans, naming schemes, security, and baseline documentation. One of our earliest CCIEs as #1289, he is also Cisco-Certified Instructor #93021. His current focus is on network automation, utilizing tools such as Infoblox NetMRI. In today’s mostly redundant networks, he understands the importance of not only high availability/MTBF and MTTR, but also MTTD (detect). He has also developed scripts that have performed bullet-proof IOS upgrades on hundreds of Cisco devices.
Michael Blunt has over 10 years experience in scoping large scale projects and is a technical expert in core network technologies. He enjoys providing challenging solutions to NetCraftsmen customers. He currently holds CCIE’s in Routing & Switching, Service Provider and Data Center.
Michael enjoys building and operating large networks with a focus on core routing, switching and data center networking. Prior to joining the team, he worked as a Senior Director of a large tier one cable TV provider where he led network architecture and design. Holder of six patents in network scaling and security, he also secretly knows a ton about DOCSIS but probably won’t admit it.
Over ten years of IT experience, with seven of those years doing networking in military combat zones. I have a general fascination with networking technologies such as SDN, virtualization, IPv6, and WAN optimization. Currently studying for the CCIE Security.

With more than two decades of experience in business operations, Noel is currently the Director, HR and Contracts and the Corporate Treasurer. Since the founding of Chesapeake NetCraftsmen, she has managed all aspects of business operations. In addition, Noel assists with contract negotiation, including maintaining and updating NetCraftsmen’s GSA schedule, and has also served on NetCraftsmen’s Board of Directors for four terms, two of which she served as Chairwoman of the Board.

Paul has specialized in Cisco networking solutions since 1996 and has been focused on Cisco voice products since 2007. He is also a Cisco Certified Systems Instructor (CCSI #31022) and continues to develop knowledge transfer sessions for voice as well as routing and switching.

Prior to NetCraftsmen, he was a vice president at BAE Systems, where he was on the executive team for the IT and Cyber business. Paul has more than thirty years of experience in operations, corporate and business development, sales, and marketing, and has led companies through all phases of the business lifecycle—startup, growth, M&A, and restructuring. Charged with developing and nurturing strategic relationships with vendors, partners, and clients, Renee has been in the business development and sales area throughout her entire career at NetCraftsmen, in all of our technical service competencies. Prior to NetCraftsmen, she was an executive director at Mentor Technologies, concentrating business development, consulting, and project management. Renee has more than 20 years of experience working in IT, beginning her career as a systems engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. She has a thorough understanding of the professional services lifecycle and the role NetCraftsmen can play.
Ronald has years of experience as a network engineer where he has supported and maintained large networks in both the service provider realm as well as the customer space. He currently holds his CCNP (Routing and Switching) certification and is pursuing his CCIE (Routing and Switching) certification.

Additionally, he is involved in customer training and support.
With more than twenty years of experience deploying state-of-the-art communications solutions, Steve has worked on implementations ranging from research institution networks to ISP backbones. He has also designed, deployed, or improved the network for some large, well-known hospitals.
Terry Slattery is a Principal Architect at NetCraftsmen, an advanced network consulting firm that specializes in high-profile and challenging network consulting jobs. Terry is currently working on network management, SDN, business strategy consulting, and interesting legal cases.
He is the founder of Netcordia, inventor of NetMRI, has been a successful technology innovator in networking during the past 20 years, and is co-inventor on two patents. He has a long history of network consulting and design work, including some of the first Cisco consulting and training. As a consultant to Cisco, he led the development of the current Cisco IOS command line interface. Prior to Netcordia, Terry founded Chesapeake Computer Consultants, which became a Cisco premier training and consulting partner. At Chesapeake, he co-invented and patented the v-LAB system to provide hands-on access to real hardware for the hands-on component of internetwork training classes.
Terry co-authored the successful McGraw-Hill text “Advanced IP Routing in Cisco Networks,” is the second CCIE (1026) awarded, and is a regular speaker at Enterprise Connect and Interop. He blogs at nojitter.com and netcraftsmen.com.
As NetCraftsmen’s Vice President of Finance, Walter is responsible for ensuring the Company meets its financial objectives and has proper internal controls in place. He brings 28 years of experience, in a variety of Senior Financial Leadership positions across organizations in a wide range of industries, ranging from $10M to $1B+ in Revenue. He is a multi-dimensional financial leader, with experience within technology, logistics, digital marketing and professional service industries. Walter has a keen ability to look beyond the numbers, and understands how to align Finance, Operations, and Strategy. Walter works to help guide the company’s financial planning and management and works closely with the Leadership Team to grow the business.
Walter’s previous experience includes CFO, VP Finance, Controller, & Director level roles in organizations ranging from small and mid-sized companies to $1B+ in revenue. Specific experience includes financial planning & analysis, mergers & acquisitions, management buy-outs, international finance, private equity, IPO filing, raising debt and equity funding, credit facility negotiations. He holds a BS Degree in Finance, from Towson University, and an MBA from University of Baltimore.
William’s background spans an array of technical disciplines including application development, network infrastructure, protocol analysis, virtualization, and Unified Communications. Bill is certified as a CCIE Voice (CCIE #38914) and possesses a deep understanding of Cisco’s UC and Collaboration portfolio. He leads the Infrastructure Engineering team and also works with customers on architecting solutions that align with core business drivers. Bill is a regular contributor on the Cisco Support Community, a 3 time Cisco Designated VIP, and blogs on the NetCraftsmen and UC Guerrilla sites.
